Abstract: Objective: To observe the clinical effect of extracorporeal shock wave(ESW) combined with painless manipulation for patellar tendinitis(PT). Methods:A total of 80 cases of PT patients were selected and randomly divided into the observation group and the control group, 40 cases in each group. The control group was treated with painless manipulation, and the observation group was treated with ESW and painless manipulation. Clinical effect as well as scores of Visual Analogue Scale(VAS) and modified Lysholm Knee Scoring Scale before and after treatment were compared between the two groups. Results:After treatment,VAS scores in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment(P<0.05), and the score in the observation group was lower than that in the control group(P<0.05); scores of modified Lysholm Knee Scoring Scale in the two groups were increased when compared with those before treatment(P<0.05), and the score in the observation group was higher than that in the control group(P<0.05). The total effective rate was 92.50% in the observation group, higher than that of 55.00% in the control group(P<0.05). Conclusion: The therapy of ESW combined with painless manipulation in the treatment of PT can relieve pain and improve the knee joint function, whose curative effect is better than that of simple painless manipulation.
