Abstract： Objective： To observe the curative effect of Bushen Yizhi prescription combined with donepezil tablets for Alzheimer disease. Methods：A total of 68 cases of patients with Alzheimer disease were randomly divided into the control group and the observation group，34 cases in each group. The control group was treated with donepezil tablets alone，and the observation group was treated with Bushen Yizhi prescription combined with donepezil tablets. Both groups were treated for six months. The clinical effect in the two groups was compared. Before treatment and after six- month treatment， the cognitive function of patients was evaluated by Mini-Mental State Examination(MMSE) and the independent living ability was evaluated by Activity of Daily Living(ADL). Results：After six months of treatment，the total clinical effective rate was 97.06% in the observation group， higher than that of 82.35% in the control group， the difference being significant(P＜0.05). The scores of MMSE and ADL in the two groups were increased when compared with those before treatment，differences being significant(P＜0.01). The MMSE score and ADL score in the observation group were higher than that in the control group(P＜ 0.01， P＜0.05). Conclusion： Compared with the treatment with donepezil tablets alone， the therapy of Bushen Yizhi prescription combined with donepezil tablets has significant curative effect in treating Alzheimer disease，which can better improve the cognitive function and the activity of daily living of patients.
