Abstract： Objective： To observe the nursing effect of point application with Chinese herbal medicine combined with Bushen Huazhuo tang for chronic renal failure(stage 4 CKD). Methods：A total of 85 cases of patients with stage 4 CKD were randomly divided into the treatment group and the control group， 43 and 42 cases in each group respectively. The control group was given routine western medicine treatment，and the treatment group was additionally treated with point application and Bushen Huazhuo tang based on the treatment of the control group. After intervention，the clinical effect，kidney function indexes and adverse reactions in the two groups were compared. Results：After intervention，the score of clinical symptoms and signs in the treatment group was decreased when compared with that before intervention， the difference being significant(P＜0.05)；there was significant difference being found in the comparison of the scores of clinical symptoms and signs between the treatment group and the control group(P＜0.05). After intervention，the levels of serum creatinine(SCr) and blood urea nitrogen(BUN) in the treatment group were decreased when compared with those before intervention， and the estimated glomerular filtration rate(eGFR) was increased； when compared with those before intervention and those in the control group after intervention， the difference was significant(P＜0.05). After intervention， serum uric acid(UA) in the treatment group was decreased when compared with that before intervention， there being no significant difference when compared with that before intervention and that in the control group after intervention(P＞0.05). The total clinical effective rate was 90.7% in the treatment group，higher than that of 64.3% in the control group，the difference being significant(P＜0.05). No obvious adverse reaction occurred in the two groups. Conclusion： The therapy of point application with Chinese herbal medicine combined with Bushen Huazhuo tang has definite clinical effect in treating chronic renal failure，which can better improve the clinical symptoms and signs of patients， kidney function and clinical effect， and reduce the levels of SCr and BUN when compared with that of simple western medicine.
