Abstract：Objective：To observe the clinical effect of enema with Shenqing tang combined with colon dialysis for chronic renal failure. Methods： A total of 100 cases of patients with chronic renal failure were randomly divided into the treatment group and the control group， 50 cases in each group. The control group was given basic treatment， such as dietary education， treatment of primary diseases， control on blood pressure， correction of electrolyte disorders and metabolic acidosis， solutions to anemia， regulation of calcium- phosphorus metabolism， and prevention of infection. The treatment group was additionally treated with enema with Shenqing tang combined with colon dialysis based on the treatment of the control group. Both groups were observed and treated for 10 days. The clinical effect and incidence of adverse reactions in the two groups were counted. The changes in clearance rate of serum creatinine(SCr)，blood urea nitrogen(BUN) and endogenous creatinine(CCr)，as well as the levels of hemoglobin(Hb) and albumin(Alb) before and after treatment were detected in the two groups. Results：The total effective rate was 92.1% in the treatment group，and 70.0% in the control group，the difference being significant(P＜0.05).After treatment， the levels of SCr and BUN in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment(P＜0.05)， and CCr values were increased(P＜0.05)； the improvement of each index in the treatment group was more significant than that in the control group(P＜0.05). The levels of Alb in the two groups did not improve much after treatment， and the comparisons before and after treatment and between the two groups showed no significance in differences(P＞0.05). After treatment，the levels of Hb in the two groups were increased when compared with those before treatment(P＜0.05)，and the increase in the treatment group was more significant than that in the control group (P＜0.05). The incidence of adverse reactions was 26.0% in the treatment group， and 18.0% in the control group， there being no significance in the difference(P＞0.05). Conclusion：The therapy of enema with Shenqing tang combined with colon dialysis has significant curative effect on chronic renal failure
