Abstract:Objective:To observe the clinical effect of oral administration of herbal decoction combined with abdominal massage for senile constipation. Methods: A total of 80 cases of patients with senile constipation were divided into the control group and the observation group according to the random number table method,40 cases in each group. The control group was given oral administration of phenolphthalein tablets and responding nursing intervention, and the observation group was additionally treated with herbal decoction combined with abdominal massage based on the treatment of the control group. The clinical effect in the two groups was compared. Chinese medicine syndrome scores before and after treatment were counted. The adverse reactions during treatment were recorded. Results:The total effective rate was 95.0% in the observation group, higher than that of 80.0% in the control group, the difference being significant(P<0.05). Before treatment, there was no significant difference being found in the comparison of the Chinese medicine syndrome scores between the two groups(P>0.05). After treatment, the scores of difficult defecation, defecation time, mental fatigue, weakness of the limbs,shortness of breath,defecation frequency and spontaneous perspiration in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment, and the above Chinese medicine syndrome scores in the observation group were all lower than those in the control group,differences being significant(P<0.05). Conclusion:The oral administration of herbal decoction combined with abdominal massage for senile constipation can better improve the clinical symptoms of patients with significant and safe effect.
