Effect of Warm Needling and Moxibustion Combined with Functional Exercise on Joint Pain, Range of Motion and Levels of Inflammatory Factors of Patients with Knee Osteoarthritis Who Underwent Total Knee Arthroplasty
Abstract:Objective:To observe the effect of warm needling and moxibustion combined with functional exercise on joint pain,range of motion(ROM) and levels of inflammatory factors of patients with knee osteoarthritis who underwent total knee arthroplasty. Methods:A total of 84 cases of patients with knee osteoarthritis who underwent total knee arthroplasty were selected and divided into the observation group and the control group according to the random number table method,42 cases in each group. The control group was treated with functional exercise after surgery,and the observation group was additionally treated with warm needling and moxibustion based on the treatment of the control group. The symptom scores, clinical effect,ROM,scores of Knee Society Score(KSS),as well as levels of C-reactive protein(CRP),and nitric oxide(NO) in serum were compared between the two groups. Results:The total effective rate was 97.62% in the observation group, higher than that of 80.95% in the control group(P<0.05). After treatment, the symptom scores in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment(P<0.05); ROM was increased when compared with that before treatment(P<0.05); the scores of KSS were increased when compared with those before treatment(P<0.05). After treatment,when compared with those in the control group,in the observation group,the symptom score was lower(P< 0.05),ROM was larger(P<0.05),and KSS score was higher(P<0.05). After treatment,the levels of CRP and NO in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment(P<0.05),and the two levels in the observation group were lower than those in the control group(P<0.05). Conclusion: For patients with knee osteoarthritis after total knee arthroplasty,the therapy of warm needling and moxibustion combined with functional exercise can effectively improve their clinical symptoms and knee joint function,relieve pain,and reduce the levels of CRP and NO in serum.
