Abstract: Objective: To observe the clinical effect of modified Simiao pills combined with western medicine on the treatment of acute gouty arthritis. Methods:A total of 104 patients with acute gouty arthritis admitted from March 2018 to March 2019 were selected as study subjects, and were divided into the treatment group and the control group according to the random number table method. In the control group,52 patients were treated with conventional western medicine;in the treatment group,52 patients were additionally treated with modified Simiao pills based on the treatment of the control group. Both groups were treated for seven days. The scores of joint pain[Numerical Pain Rating Scale(NPRS)]before and after treatment and the time of complete relief of pain after treatment were compared between the two groups. Biochemical indicators such as uric acid (UA), erythrocyte sedimentation rate(ESR), and C- reactive protein(CRP) were compared between the two groups before treatment, one day, three days and seven days after treatment. Results:One day, three days and seven days after treatment, the NPRS scores in the two groups were significantly decreased when compared with those before treatment(P<0.05);the NPRS score at each time point in the treatment group was significantly lower than that in the control group(P<0.05). Seven days after treatment, the levels of UA,ESR and CRP were decreased when compared with those before treatment(P<0.05);the above levels in the treatment group were lower than those in the control group(P< 0.05). The time of complete relief of pain in the treatment group was significantly shorter than that in the control group(P< 0.05). Conclusion:The therapy of modified Simiao pills combined with western medicine has a significant therapeutic effect on acute gouty arthritis, which can effectively reduce inflammation responses and quickly relieve pain.
