Abstract: Objective: To investigate the effect of Da'an pills on gastrointestinal motility and levels of gastrin and somatostatin(SS) in serum in the model mice with indigestion. Methods:A total of 40 Kunming mice were randomly divided into the normal group, the model group, the domperidone group and the Da'an pills group,10 mice in each group. Except for those in the normal group, the mice in the other groups were fed with high-protein and high-calorie diets to establish the models of indigestion. After successful establishment of the models, all groups were given corresponding drugs by gavage once a day for four weeks. At one hour after the last administration, blood samples were drawn from orbit and levels of gastrin and SS in serum were detected; the mice were sacrificed and the residual rate of gastric contents as well as the intestinal propulsive rate were calculated. Results: Compared with those in the normal group, the residual rate of gastric contents and SS level in serum in the model group were increased(P<0.05), and the intestinal propulsive rate and gastrin level in serum were decreased(P<0.05). Compared with those in the model group, the residual rates of gastric contents and SS levels in serum in the Da'an pills group and the domperidone group were decreased(P<0.05),and the intestinal propulsive rates and gastrin levels in serum were increased(P<0.05). Conclusion: The application of Da'an pills can promote gastric emptying and intestinal propulsion in the model mice with indigestion, increase the gastrin level in serum and decrease the SS level in serum.
