Abstract： Objective： To observe the curative effect of burying seeds at auricular points combined with point pressing during Chenshi(period of the day from 7 am to 9 am) in patients with constipation after severe stroke. Methods：A total of 116 cases of patients with constipation after severe stroke were selected and divided into the observation group and the control group according to the random number table method group，58 cases in each group. After admission，both groups were given treatment and nursing intervention of stroke. The control group was additionally given nursing intervention of constipation，and the observation group was additionally treated with burying seeds at auricular points combined with point pressing during Chenshi based on the treatment of the control group. The effect on defecation，as well as the incidence of abnormal conditions at the first defecation， the scores of constipation- related symptoms， the heart rate， and blood pressure before and after intervention were compared between the two groups. Results： The effect on defecation in the observation group was better than that in the control group， the difference being significant(Z=1.847， P＜0.05). Before intervention，when compared the scores of the degree of difficult defecation，fecal character，and defecation time between the two groups，there was no significance being found in differences(P＞0.05). After intervention，the scores of the degree of difficult defecation，fecal character，and defecation time in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before intervention， and each score in the observation group was lower than that in the control group， differences being significant(P＜0.05). The incidence of difficult defecation，long defection time，dry hard stool，and incomplete defection in the observation group was lower than that in the control group， differences being significant(P＜0.05). Before and after intervention， there was no obvious change being found in the heart rate and blood pressure in the two groups(P＞0.05). Conclusion： For patients with severe stroke complicated with constipation， the intervention of burying seeds at auricular points combined with point pressing during Chenshi can improve constipation syndromes with good safety.
