Abstract: Objective: To observe the clinical effect of joint needling combined with electroacupuncture and Chinese herbal package on knee osteoarthritis(KOA). Methods:A total of 100 KOA patients were randomly divided into the observation group and the control group according to the order of visit,50 cases in each group. The observation group was given joint needling combined with electroacupuncture and Chinese herbal package, and the control group was given glucosamine sulfate capsules combined with loxoprofen sodium tablets. The clinical effect and adverse reactions were compared between the two groups, and the changes of scores of symptom,Visual Analogue Scale(VAS) and Osteoarthritis Index of Western Ontario and McMaster University(WOMAC) were observed before and after treatment. Results:The total effective rate was 96.0% in the observation group, higher than that of 80.0% in the control group, the difference being significant(P<0.05). After treatment, the scores of symptom,VAS and WOMAC in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment(P<0.01);the above three scores in the observation group were lower than those in the control group(P< 0.01). The incidence of adverse reactions in the observation group was 0,lower than that of 16.0% in the control group, the difference being significant(P<0.05). Conclusion: The therapy of joint needling combined with electroacupuncture and Chinese herbal package for KOA patients, can significantly improve the clinical symptoms and signs, whose the curative effect is better than glucosamine sulfate capsules combined with loxoprofen sodium tablets, with greater safety.
