Abstract：Objective：To observe the clinical effect of Chinese herbal fumigation and hip bath with Zuoyu powder on pain and edema after operation for mixed hemorrhoids. Methods：A total of 165 patients after operation for mixed hemorrhoids were divided into the treatment group(83 cases) and the control group(82 cases) according to the random number table method. The operation methods of both groups were Milligan- Morgan hemorrhoidectomy or procedure for prolapse and hemorrhoids(PPH) plus Milligan-Morgan hemorrhoidectomy. After operation， the treatment group was given Chinese herbal fumigation and hip bath with Zuoyu powder， while the control group was given fumigation and hip bath with 1∶5 000 potassium permanganate solution. The scores of Visual Analogue Scale(VAS) and perianal edema at different time points after operation were compared between the two groups. The clinical effect and postoperative wound healing time in the two groups were compared. Results：The scores of VAS and perianal edema at the same time point in the treatment group were lower than those in the control group on the third and seventh day after operation， the difference being significant(P＜0.05). The total effective rate was 96.38% in the treatment group and 86.58% in the control group， the difference being significant (P＜0.05). The average postoperative wound healing time in the treatment group was shorter than that in the control group， the difference being significant(P＜0.05). Conclusion：Chinese herbal fumigation and hip bath with Zuoyu powder for patients with pain after operation for mixed hemorrhoids， can effectively reduce the pain and perianal edema and promote the healing of surgical wound， whose curative effect is significantly better than that of the control group.
