Clinical Study on Hot Medicinal Compress with Moxa-Salt Bag Combined with Auricular Point Pressing with Beans for Chemotherapy After Surgery of Gastric Cancer
Abstract:Objective:To observe the effect of hot medicinal compress with moxa-salt bag combined with auricular point pressing with beans on sleeping quality, and gastrointestinal reactions induced by chemotherapy after surgery of gastric cancer. Methods:A total of 90 cases of patients after surgery of gastric cancer were selected and divided into the observation group and the control group,45 cases in each group. Both groups were given chemotherapy of oxaliplatin and capecitabine tablets after surgery, and the control group was treated with auricular point pressing with beans at the same time. The observation group was additionally treated with hot medicinal compress with moxa-salt bag at points based on the treatment of the control group. Both groups were continuously treated for six weeks. The scores of digestive tract symptoms, Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index(PSQI), and Karnofsky Performance Status for measuring quality of life, as well as clinical effect were compared between the two groups. During treatment, the incidence of adverse reactions in gastrointestinal tract was recorded. Results:The total effective rate was 71.1% in the observation group, higher than that of 44.4% in the control group(P<0.05). After treatment, the scores of oral cavity, nausea and vomiting, diarrhea, and constipation in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment(P<0.05),and the scores in the observation group were lower than those in the control group(P<0.05). After treatment, the sleeping duration, the time of falling asleep, sleeping quality, medicine hypnosis, and the total score of PSQI in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment(P<0.05), and the five indexes above in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group(P<0.05). The incidence of poor appetite, abdominal distension, constipation,as well as nausea and vomiting in the observation group was significantly lower than that in the control group(P<0.05). After treatment, the scores of Karnofsky Performance Status for measuring quality of life in the two groups were increased(P<0.05),and the score in the observation group was higher than that in the control group(P<0.05). Conclusion:The therapy of hot medicinal compress with moxa-salt bag combined with auricular point pressing with beans can improve the degree and the incidence of gastrointestinal reactions induced by chemotherapy after surgery of gastric cancer. It can improve sleeping quality and life quality, with defined curative effect.
