Abstract： Professor YANG Xiaofang considers that lumbar disc herniation (LDH) belongs to the category of flaccidity syndrome in Chinese medicine. Besides， professor YANG believes that locations of the disease are the spleen， the stomach， and the kidney， and yang qi is essential for them to function normally. According to the central concept “conducting fire back to its origin，warming yang to nourish earth”，professor YANG believes that the crux of pathogenesis is spleen-kidney yang deficiency and cold-dampness obstruction. Besides，in terms of treatment，professor YANG holds that meridian selection and point combination should be based on the principle of warming yang， dispelling dampness， and unblocking collaterals，which can gain significant curative effect.
