Effect of Auricular Point Pressing with Beans and Chinese Herbal Foot Bath Combined with Routine Medical Treatment on Sleep Quality and Negative Symptoms in Patients with Schizophrenia
Abstract:Objective:To observe the effect of auricular point pressing with beans and Chinese herbal foot bath combined with routine medical treatment on the sleep quality and negative symptoms in patients with schizophrenia. Methods:A total of 100 patients were randomly divided into the control group and the observation group,50 cases in each group. The two groups were treated with aminopyril tablets and dextrozopiclone tablets for six weeks, and were given psychological nursing, medicinal nursing management and sleep nursing. The observation group was additionally treated with auricular point pressing with beans and Chinese herbal foot bath for six weeks. Before and after six weeks of treatment, the negative symptoms were evaluated by Negative Symptom Scale(NEG), and the sleep quality by Insomnia Severity Index(ISI). The incidence of adverse reactions was recorded by using Treatment Emergent Symptom Scale(TESS) during treatment. On the day of discharge, the patients' satisfaction with nursing work was evaluated by a scale. Results:After treatment, the scores of NEG and ISI in both groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment(P<0.01),and the above two scores in the observation group were lower than those in the control group(P<0.01). The TESS score in the observation group was lower than that in the control group(P<0.01). The nursing satisfaction in the observation group was better than that in the control group(P<0.05). Conclusion:Based on routine treatment and nursing of modern medicine, the additional application of auricular point pressing with beans and Chinese herbal foot bath, can effectively reduce the negative symptoms of schizophrenia, improve the sleep quality of patients, reduce the adverse reactions of western medicine, and improve the satisfaction of patients with nursing work.
