Abstract: Objective: To observe the clinical effect of gentle moxibustion combined with basic fluid replacement for hyperemesis gravidarum. Methods: A total of 85 cases of patients with hyperemesis gravidarum who were diagnosed in Department of Obstetrics were studied and divided into the observation group and the control group based on different treatments,45 and 40 cases in each group respectively. The observation group was given gentle moxibustion combined with basic fluid replacement, and the control group was given basic fluid replacement. Both groups were treated for one course. The clinical effect, Chinese medicine syndrome scores, anxiety, stress, pregnancy outcome, and complications were observed in the two groups. Results:The total effective rate was 82.2%(37/45) in the observation group, higher than that of 57.5% (23/40) in the control group, the difference being significant(P<0.05). Before treatment, there was no significant difference being found in the comparison of syndrome scores of nausea and vomiting, lassitude of spirit and lack of strength, and dizziness between the two groups(P>0.05). After treatment, the scores of nausea and vomiting, lassitude of spirit and lack of strength, and dizziness in the two groups were decreased, and the scores above in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, the difference being significant(P<0.05). Before treatment, there was no significant difference being found in the comparison of scores of anxiety and stress between the two groups(P>0.05). After treatment, scores of anxiety and stress in the two groups were decreased, and the scores above in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, the difference being significant(P<0.05). When compared the rate of spontaneous premature delivery, small for gestational age infant and preeclampsia, there was no significant difference being found between the two groups(P>0.05). There was no significant difference being found in the comparison of the incidence of acidosis, the liver failure, and electrolyte imbalance between the two groups(P>0.05). Conclusion: In the treatment of hyperemesis gravidarum, the therapy of gentle moxibustion combined with basic fluid replacement has significant curative effect, which can effectively improve clinical symptoms and relieve status of anxiety and stress with high safety. Besides,it will exert no effect on pregnancy outcome.
