Abstract：Objective：To observe the effect of minimally invasive surgery-transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion (MISTLIF) combined with Jianyao Zhitong tang for lumbar spinal stenosis(LSS). Methods：A total of 84 cases of LSS patients were divided into the control group and the observation group according to the random number table method，42 cases in each group. The control group was given routine treatment，namely MIS-TLIF，and the observation group was additionally given Jianyao Zhitong tang based on the treatment of the control group. Both groups were treated for four weeks. The clinical effect， adverse reactions， and the changes in scores of Visual Analogue Scale for pain(VAS) and Japanese Orthopaedic Association(JOA) for pain in low back were observed and compared between the two groups. Results：The total effective rate was 92.86% in the observation group， and 76.19% in the control group， the difference being significant(P＜0.05). After treatment，the VAS score in the observation group was decreased and lower than that in the control group(P＜0.05)；the JOA score was increased and higher than that in the control group(P＜0.05). There were two cases of infection in the control group；after symptomatic treatment，patients were recovered. No significant adverse reactions occurred in the observation group during treatment. Conclusion：The combined treatment of MIS-TLIF and Jianyao Zhitong tang has significant curative effect in the treatment of LSS，which can effectively relieve pain and reduce dysfunction of lumbar vertebra.
