Abstract：Objective：To observe the curative effect of enema with Dahuang Gancao tang for sepsis complicated with gut dysfunction. Methods：A total of 70 cases of patients with sepsis complicated with gut dysfunction were enrolled in Group A and Group B based on different therapies，35 cases in each group. Group A was given comprehensive treatment of internal medicine，and Group B was additionally given enema with Dahuang Gancao tang based on the treatment of Group A. The clinical effect，the scores of the gut dysfunction and Acute Physiology and Chronic Health EvaluationⅡ(APACHEⅡ)，and the changes in clinical indexes including procalcitonin and C- reactive protein were compared between the two groups. Results： The total effective rate in Group B was higher than that in Group A(P＜0.05). Before treatment， there was no significant difference being found in the comparison of the scores of the gut dysfunction and APACHEⅡ between the two groups(P＞ 0.05). After treatment，the scores of the gut dysfunction and APACHEⅡin the two groups were improved when compared with those before treatment， and the two scores above in Group B were lower than those in Group A(P＜0.05). Before treatment， there was no significant difference being found in the comparison of the indexes of procalcitonin and Creactive protein between the two groups(P＞0.05). After treatment，the indexes of procalcitonin and C-reactive protein in the two groups were improved when compared with those before treatment(P＜0.05)，and the two indexes above in Group B were lower than those in Group A(P＜0.05). Conclusion：In the treatment of sepsis complicated with gut dysfunction，enema with Dahuang Gancao tang has significant curative effect，which can significantly improve the gut dysfunction，the condition of acute physiology and chronic health，and the clinical indexes including procalcitonin and C-reactive protein.
