Abstract: Objective: To observe the clinical effect of mind- awakening scalp acupuncture and JIN's three- needle acupuncture combined with rehabilitation training on children with cerebral palsy(CP). Methods:A total of 86 CP children were randomly divided into the control group and the observation group,43 cases in each group. Both groups were treated with Bohath therapy and Vojta therapy, and the observation group was additionally treated with mind- awakening scalp acupuncture and JIN's three- needle acupuncture. The treatment course of both groups was 12 weeks. Before and after treatment, the Gross Motor Function Measure(GMFM) scale and Fine Motor Function Measure(FMFM) Scale were adopted to assess motor ability; the Wechsler Preschool and Primary Scale of Intelligence(WPPSI) was used to assess intellectual function;the Composite Spasticity Scale(CSS) was applied to assess muscle function. Results:After treatment, the scores of Area A,B,C,D and E as well as the total scores of GMFM and FMFM in the two groups were increased when compared with those before treatment(P<0.01);each score of area and total score of the above two scales in the observation group were higher than those in the control group(P<0.01). The WPPSI scores were increased and CSS scores decreased in both groups(P<0.01). The WPPSI score in the observation group was higher than that in the control group, and the CSS score was lower, differences being significant(P<0.01). The degree of spasm in both groups was less than that before treatment respectively(P<0.05),and the degree in the observation group was less than that in the control group(P<0.05). Conclusion: The application of mind-awakening scalp acupuncture and JIN's three-needle acupuncture based on the routine rehabilitation treatment for CP children, can improve the intellectual function, gross motor function and fine motor function, and reduce the degree of muscle spasm.
