Clinical Study on Therapy of Foot Bath with Chinese Herbs and Application of Fructus Evodiae at Yongquan Point Combined with Routine Medical Care for Hypertensive Vertigo
Abstract:Objective:To observe the therapeutic effect of the therapy of foot bath with Chinese herbs and application of Fructus Evodiae at Yongquan point(KI 1) based on the routine medical care on hypertensive vertigo. Methods:A total of 150 patients with hypertensive vertigo with the syndrome of ascendant hyperactivity of liver yang were randomly divided into the observation group and the control group, 75 cases in each group. Both groups took nifedipine controlled release tablets orally, and those whose blood pressure could not meet the standard were given captopril tablets, and were given comprehensive nursing such as dietary guidance and psychological nursing. The observation group was given foot bath with Chinese herbs and application of Fructus Evodiae at Yongquan point. Both groups were treated for four weeks. Before treatment and four weeks after treatment, the levels of systolic blood pressure(SBP) and diastolic blood pressure(DBP) were recorded and the rate of blood pressure reaching the standard during treatment were calculated. Before and after treatment, the degree of vertigo and score of Self- Rated Health Measurement Scale were evaluated. At the end of treatment, the patients evaluated the nursing satisfaction. Results: After four weeks of treatment, the therapeutic effect on improving blood pressure in the observation group was better than that in the control group(P<0.05). The levels of SBP and DBP in both groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment(P<0.01),and the above two levels in the observation group were lower than those in the control group(P<0.05). The rate of blood pressure reaching the standard was 56.26% in the observation group, higher than that of 46.79% in the control group, the difference being significant(P<0.01). The vertigo score in both groups was decreased when compared with that before treatment respectively(P<0.01), and the score of SRHMS was increased respectively(P<0.01). The vertigo score in the observation group was lower than that in the control group(P<0.01),and the score of SRHMS was higher(P<0.01). The score of nursing satisfaction in the observation group was higher than that in the control group(P<0.05). Conclusion:Based on the treatment of the routine medical care, the additional use of foot bath with Chinese herbs and application of Fructus Evodiae at Yongquan point, can further control the blood pressure of the patients and improve the rate of blood pressure reaching the standard to lessen vertigo and improve patients' health and nursing satisfaction.
