Abstract: Objective: To observe the effect of balance acupuncture on the level of homocysteine(Hcy) in plasma and clinical symptoms in patients with H-type hypertension. Methods:A total of 60 cases of patients with H-type hypertension were selected and divided into the observation group and the control group according to the random number table method, 30 cases in each group. The control group was given the oral administration of enalapril maleate and folic acid tablets, and the observation group was additionally given balance acupuncture based on the treatment of the control group. The clinical effect, blood pressure, Chinese medicine syndrome scores, and the level of Hcy in plasma were compared between the two groups. Results:Before treatment, there were no significant differences being found in the comparison of systolic blood pressure and diastolic blood pressure between the two groups(P>0.05). On the 7th and 14th days after treatment, systolic blood pressure and diastolic blood pressure in the two groups was decreased when compared with that before treatment, and the two pressure in the observation group was lower than that in the control group at the same time point, differences being significant(P<0.05). Before treatment, there was no significant difference being found in the comparison of Chinese medicine syndrome scores between the two groups(P>0.05). On the 7th and 14th days after treatment,Chinese medicine syndrome scores in the two groups were gradually decreased, and the scores in the observation group were lower than those in the control group at the same time point, differences being significant(P<0.05). On the 3rd, 7th, and 14th days after treatment, the total effective rate of symptoms in the observation group was higher than that in the control group, differences being significant(P<0.05). On the 7th day after treatment, the total effective rate of the three excess syndromes, namely intense liver fire type,phlegm- dampness excessiveness and obstruction type, and stasis obstructing the vessels and collaterals type in the observation group was significantly higher than that in the control group, differences being significant(P<0.05). Before treatment, there was no significant difference being found in the level of Hcy between the two groups(P>0.05). After treatment, the levels of Hcy in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment, and the level in the observation group was lower than that in the control group, differences being significant (P<0.05). Conclusion:Balance acupuncture has certain curative effect on reducing the level of Hcy in plasma and improving clinical symptoms in patients with H-type hypertension.
