Abstract:Objective: To observe the clinical effect of the treatment for Idiopathic Short Stature(ISS) complicated with retardation of bone age in prepuberty from the spleen and kidney. Methods: A total of 64 cases of ISS children with retardation of bone age in prepuberty were divided into the treatment group and the control group according to the random number table method,32 cases in each group. The control group was treated with lysine inosite vitamin B12 oral solution and given diet guidance,health education and life intervention;the treatment group was additionally treated with Chinese herbal medicine for fortifying the spleen and warming the kidney based on the treatment of the control group. Both groups were treated for 12 months. Before and after treatment,the changes in height,body mass,bone age and Insulin- like Growth Factor-1(IGF-1) levels in the two groups were observed. After twelve-month treatment,the increment of height and bone age in the two groups were compared. Results: After six-month and twelve-month treatment,the height and bone age in the two groups were increased when compared with those before treatment(P<0.05). After six-month treatment,there was no significant difference being found in the comparison of the height and body mass between the two groups(P>0.05). After twelve-month treatment,the increase of height and body mass in the treatment group was more significant than that in the control group(P<0.05). After twelve-month treatment,the bone age and IGF-1 levels in the two groups were increased when compared with those before treatment(P<0.05);there was no significant difference being found in the comparison of the bone age and the increment of bone age between the two groups(P>0.05);the IGF-1 level in serum in the treatment group was higher than that in the control group(P<0.05);the increment of height in the treatment group was more than that in the control group(P<0.05). Conclusion: The treatment for ISS complicated with retardation of bone age in prepuberty from the spleen and kidney can promote the synthesis of IGF-1 in the body of children and speed up the increment of height and body mass.
