Evaluation of Clinical Effect of Electroacupuncture and Moxibustion Combined with Routine Medical Measures for Urinary Retention After Spinal Cord Injury
Abstract:Objective:To observe the clinical effect of electroacupuncture and moxibustion based on routine treatment and rehabilitation nursing measures for urinary retention after spinal cord injury. Methods:A total of 104 cases of patients were randomly divided into the control group and the observation group,52 cases in each group. Both groups were given oral administration of tolterodine tartrate tablets, and intermittent catheterization and bladder function training;the observation group was additionally treated with electroacupuncture and moxibustion. Both groups were treated for six weeks. The times of urine leakage, the volume of incontinence, the residual urine volume, the times of urination and the maximum urination volume were recorded every day by nursing staff and patients, and the changes before and after treatment were compared. The safe bladder capacity, intravesical pressure and residual urine volume before and after treatment were recorded, and routine urine examination was performed. The balanced state of bladder function in the two groups was compared. Results: After treatment, the balanced state of bladder function in the observation group was better than that in the control group(P< 0.05). Every day,in the two groups, the times of urine leakage, the volume of incontinence and the times of urination were decreased when compared with those before treatment(P<0.01),and the maximum urination volume was increased(P< 0.01); in the observation group, the times of urine leakage, the volume of incontinence and the times of urination were fewer than those in the control group(P<0.01),and the maximum urination volume was more than that in the control group (P<0.01). The residual urine volume and intravesical pressure in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment(P<0.01),and the above two indexes in the observation group were lower than those in the control group (P<0.01). The safe bladder capacity in the two groups was increased when compared with that before treatment(P<0.01), and the safe bladder capacity in the observation group was more than that in the control group(P<0.01). Conclusion:Based on the intervention of routine treatment and rehabilitation nursing measures, the additional therapy of electroacupuncture combined with moxibustion for urinary retention after spinal cord injury can significantly improve the neurological function of the bladder, promote the recovery of normal volume of bladder and controllable urination, reduce the residual urine volume, and promote the balanced state of bladder function.
