Abstract：Objective：To observe the clinical effect of Bushen Tiaogan mixture combined with acupuncture for sterility due to anovulation of kidney-deficiency and liver-depression type. Methods：A total of 60 cases of patients with sterility due to anovulation of kidney-deficiency and liver-depression type were randomly divided into the treatment group and the control group，30 cases in each group. The treatment group was given Bushen Tiaogan mixture combined with acupuncture，and the control group was given clomiphene citrate capsules. Both groups were continuously treated for two courses，three months being a course. The clinical effect，Chinese medicine syndrome scores，the pregnancy rate，the rate of threatened abortion and the rate of embryo growth arrest were compared between the two groups. Results：The total effective rate was 96.67% in the treatment group and 36.67% in the control group，the difference being significant(P＜0.05). Before treatment，there was no significant difference being found in the comparison of Chinese medicine syndrome scores between the two groups (P＞0.05). After treatment， Chinese medicine syndrome scores in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment(P＜0.05)，and the decrease of the scores in the treatment group was larger than that in the control group(P＜0.05). In the treatment group， the pregnancy rate was higher than that in the control group， and the rate of threatened abortion and the rate of embryo growth arrest were lower；but there was no significance in difference(P＞0.05). Conclusion：In the treatment of sterility due to anovulation of kidney-deficiency and liver-depression type，the therapy of Bushen Tiaogan mixture combined with acupuncture has better clinical effect than that of clomiphene citrate capsules.
