Abstract：Objective：To observe and compare the clinical effect of point application with Chinese herbal medicine for allergic rhinitis in dog days and non-dog days. Methods：A total of 238 cases of patients with allergic rhinitis were divided into the treatment group and the control group according to the visiting time. The treatment group was treated with point application with Chinese herbal medicine at the beginning，middle and end of dog days，and the control group was treated with point application with Chinese herbal medicine in non-dog days. Before and after treatment and during follow-up，the scores of Total Nasal Symptom Score(TNSS) and Total Non-nasal Symptom Score(TNNSS) and the levels of immunoglobulin E (IgE) in the two groups were recorded and compared. Results：After treatment and after follow-up for one，two and three months respectively，the scores of TNSS and TNNSS in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment(P＜0.05). After follow- up for two months，the TNNSS score in the treatment group was lower than that in the control group. After follow-up for three months，the TNSS score in the treatment group was lower than that in the control group(P＜0.05). After treatment and after follow-up for one and two months respectively，there was no significant difference being found in the comparison of the TNSS scores between the two groups(P＞0.05). After treatment and after follow-up for one and three months respectively，there was no significant difference being found in the comparison of the TNNSS scores between the two groups(P＞0.05). After treatment，the level of IgE in the treatment group was decreased when compared with that before treatment(P＜0.05). After treatment and after follow-up for one month，there was no significant difference being found in the comparison of the levels of IgE in serum between the two groups(P＜0.05). Conclusion：Point application with Chinese herbal medicine in both dog days and non-dog days can effectively improve the symptoms of allergic rhinitis， while point application with Chinese herbal medicine in dog days can help to enhance the curative effect，and has better improvement effect on IgE levels in serum.
