Abstract: Objective: To observe the clinical effect of Ginkgo leaf tablets combined with citicoline sodium tablets for vascular dementia. Methods: A total of 60 cases of patients with vascular dementia during the fluctuation period were randomly divided into the control group and the observation group,30 cases in each group. The control group was given citicoline sodium tablets based on general treatment, and the observation group was additionally given Ginkgo leaf tablets based on the treatment of the control group. Both groups were treated for three months. The clinical effect and incidence of adverse reactions of patients were evaluated. Artery blood flow velocities in both sides of the brain and levels of homocysteine (Hcy) in peripheral blood before and after treatment were detected in the two groups. Activities of daily living of patients were evaluated via Barthel Index(BI) form, and their mental state was evaluated via the Mini-Mental State Examination(MMSE). Results:The total effective rate was 83.33% in the observation group and 53.33% in the control group, the difference being significant(P<0.05). After treatment, when compared with those before treatment, artery blood flow velocities in the brain in the two groups were increased(P<0.05), and the levels of Hcy in peripheral blood were decreased(P<0.05); the improvement of above two indexes in the observation group was more significant than that in the control group(P<0.05). After treatment, the scores of MMSE and BI in the two groups were significantly increased when compared with those before treatment(P<0.05),and the above two scores in the observation group were higher than those in the control group(P<0.05). The incidence of adverse reactions was 20.00% in the observation group and 26.67% in the control group, differences being not significant(P>0.05). Conclusion: The therapy of Ginkgo leaf tablets combined with citicoline sodium tablets has significant curative effect in treating patients with vascular dementia during the fluctuation period, which is better than that of simple western medicine.
