Abstract：Objective：To observe the clinical effect of point massage for patients with hypertension of yin deficiency with yang hyperactivity type. Methods：A total of 144 cases of patients with hypertension of yin deficiency with yang hyperactivity type were divided into two groups according to the random number table method，72 cases in each group. The control group was given basic medication，and the observation group was additionally given point massage based on the treatment of the control group. Both groups were treated for three months. Before and after treatment， the blood pressure level， Chinese medicine syndrome scores， and the scores of 36- Item Short Form Health Survey(SF- 36) were observed and compared between the two groups. The total clinical effect and the incidence of adverse reactions in the two groups were counted. Results： The total effective rate was 86.11% in the observation group， and 70.83% in the control group， the difference being significant(P＜0.05). After treatment，the scores of vertigo，headache，and soreness of the waist as well as the total score in the two groups were significantly decreased when compared with those before treatment(P＜0.05)； the scores above in the observation group were lower than those in the control group(P＜0.05). After treatment，systolic blood pressure and diastolic blood pressure in the two groups were significantly decreased when compared with those before treatment (P＜0.05)；the two indexes in the observation group were lower than those in the control group(P＜0.05). After treatment， the scores of physical functioning，emotion，mental health，vitality，social functioning，general health，and quality of life in SF-36 in the two groups were significantly increased when compared with those before treatment(P＜0.05)；no significant difference being found in the comparison of the indexes above between the two groups(P＞0.05). During treatment， no treatment-related adverse reactions occurred in the two groups. Conclusion：Based on anti-hypertensive medication，the additional point massage has significant curative effect in the treatment of hypertension of yin deficiency with yang hyperactivity type， which can effectively relieve clinical symptoms and improve quality of life， without obvious adverse reactions.
