Abstract: Objective: To observe the effect of Chinese herbal application at Shenque(CV8) combined with emotional nursing of Chinese medicine on the recovery of gastrointestinal function and emotional state of patients after surgery for gastric cancer. Methods: A total of 80 cases of patients were randomly divided into the control group and the experiment group,40 cases in each group. The control group was given routine treatment and nursing, and the experiment group was additionally given Chinese herbal application at Shenque(CV8) and emotional nursing of Chinese medicine based on the treatment of the control group. The recovery time of gastrointestinal function after surgery as well as the changes in the scores of Hamilton Anxiety Scale(HAMA) and Hamilton Depression Scale(HAMD) before and after nursing were observed and compared. Results: After surgery, the time of first anal exhaust and defecation, the time of liquid- food intake, and the time of semifluid- food intake in the experiment group were shorter than those in the control group, differences being significant(P<0.05). After treatment, the scores of HAMA and HAMD in the two groups were significantly decreased when compared with those before treatment(P<0.05);and the above two scores in the experiment group were significantly lower than those in the control group(P<0.05). Conclusion:The therapy of Chinese herbal application at Shenque(CV8) combined with emotional nursing of Chinese medicine can effectively promote gastrointestinal peristalsis of patients after surgery for gastric cancer, accelerate the recovery of gastrointestinal function, and alleviate their bad mood, such as anxiety and depression.
