Abstract：Objective：To observe the effect of long- snake moxibustion on symptoms and adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) in serum of patients with yang deficiency constitution. Methods： A total of 60 volunteers with yang deficiency constitution and in accordance with the inclusion criteria were given long- snake moxibustion once per week， four times being a course，three courses in total. In addition，60 volunteers with moderate constitution were selected as reference. The scores of yang deficiency constitution，and the contents of ACTH in serum of volunteers with yang deficiency constitution were observed and recorded before treatment， after treatment and six months after treatment. Before treatment， the content of ACTH in serum was compared between volunteers with yang deficiency constitution and those with moderate constitution. Results： After treatment， the score of yang deficiency constitution in volunteers with yang deficiency constitution was decreased when compared with that before treatment(P＜0.01). As for volunteers with yang deficiency constitution，when compared the score of yang deficiency constitution after treatment with that six months after treatment， there was no significance in the difference(P＞0.05). The content of ACTH in serum of volunteers with yang deficiency constitution was lower than that with moderate constitution，the difference being significant(P＜0.01). After treatment，the ACTH content in serum of volunteers with yang deficiency constitution was increased when compared with that before treatment(P＜0.01). As for volunteers with yang deficiency constitution， when compared the ACTH content in serum after treatment with that six months after treatment， there was no significance in the difference(P＞0.05). Conclusion： Longsnake moxibustion can effectively improve yang deficiency constitution，and enhance the ACTH level in serum of people with yang deficiency constitution，with long-lasting curative effect.
