Abstract:Objective:To observe the curative effect of integrated Chinese and western medicine therapy combined with nursing intervention to senile knee osteoarthritis. Methods: A total of 110 cases of senile patients with knee osteoarthritis were randomly divided into two groups,55 cases in each group. Both groups were given necessary nursing intervention such as pain nursing and muscle strength training; the control group was additionally given the oral administration of eloricoxib tablets;the observation group was additionally given the oral administration of simiao pill decoction and external application of Chinese medicine based on the treatment of the control group. Before treatment as well as after one and three weeks of treatment, scores of Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index Scale(WOMAC) for evaluating the knee joint function, scores of Visual Analogue Scale(VAS) for evaluating pain degree, and the changes in circumference of the knee joint were evaluated in the two groups. After treatment, the clinical effect and the condition of adverse reactions were counted in the two groups. Results:The total effective rate was 94.55% in the observation group and 80.00% in the control group, the difference being significant(P<0.05). After one and three weeks of treatment, the WOMAC scores and the VAS scores in the two groups were gradually decreased when compared with those before treatment;when compared the two scores with those at the previous time point in the same group, differences were significant(P<0.05);the decrease of the two scores in the observation group was more significant than that in the same time point in the control group(P<0.05). After one and three weeks of treatment, circumferences of the knee joint in the two groups were gradually decreased when compared with those before treatment; when compared the circumferences with those at the previous time point in the same group, differences were significant(P<0.05);the decrease of the circumference of the knee joint in the observation group was more significant than that at the same time point in the control group(P<0.05). Conclusion: The therapy of integrated Chinese and western medicine therapy combined with nursing intervention can conduce to relieving arthralgia of senile patients with knee osteoarthritis, improve their joint function, and accelerate regression of swelling, thus improving the clinical effect.
