Abstract: Objective: To observe the effect of acupuncture and tuina combined with exercise therapy on neurologic impairment, motor function, activity of daily living and disability degree in patients with cerebral infarction at acute stage. Methods:A total of 60 cases of patients with cerebral infarction at acute stage were divided into the experiment group and the control group according to the center random method, 30 cases in each group. The control group was treated with modern rehabilitation scheme, and the experiment group was additionally treated with acupuncture and tuina combined with exercise therapy. Both groups were treated for two weeks. Before treatment, after treatment for two weeks and after threemonth follow-up , the changes in scores of National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale(NIHSS) , Fugl-Meyer Assessment (FMA) and Barthel Index(BI) as well as disability degree in the two groups were observed. Results:After treatment for two weeks, the NIHSS scores in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment(P<0.05),and the FMA scores were increased(P<0.05);the NIHSS score in the experiment group was lower than that in the control group(P< 0.05) , and the FMA score was higher(P < 0.05). After three-month follow-up after treatment , the FMA score in the experiment group was higher than that in the control group(P<0.05). After treatment for two weeks, the BI scores and disability degree in the two groups were improved when compared with those before treatment(P<0.05); there was no significant difference being found in the comparison between the two groups(P>0.05). After three- month follow- up after treatment, the BI scores and disability degree in the experiment group were better than those in the control group(P>0.05). Conclusion:The application of acupuncture and tuina combined with exercise therapy for patients with cerebral infarction at acute stage can improve their neurologic impairment and motor function, and has a good long- term curative effect on improving the activities of daily living and the disability degree.
