Abstract：Objective：To observe the clinical effect of the therapy of acupuncture combined with Duhuo Jisheng tang for prolapse of lumbar intervertebral disc. Methods： A total of 78 patients with prolapse of lumbar intervertebral disc were randomly divided into the control group and the observation group，39 patients in each group. The control group was treated with acupuncture based on the treatment of conventional traction，and the observation group was additionally treated with Duhuo Jisheng tang based on the treatment of the control group. The clinical effect，recurrence rate and adverse reactions in the two groups were observed and compared. Results： The total effective rate was 94.87% in the observation group and 79.49% in the control group， the difference being significant(P＜0.05). The recurrence rate was 5.41% in the observation group and 25.81% in the control group after three-month follow-up，the difference being significant(P＜0.05). The incidence of adverse reactions was 5.13% in the observation group and 19.75% in the control group，the difference being significant(P＜ 0.05). Conclusion：Based on the conventional traction，the therapy of acupuncture combined with Duhuo Jisheng tang can effectively relieve the symptoms of patients with prolapse of lumbar intervertebral disc，reduce recurrence rate and adverse reactions，and have a significant clinical effect.
