Clinical Study on Bushen Herbal Paste Combined with Alendronate Sodium Tablets for Postmenopausal Osteoporosis with Kidney Essence Insufficiency Syndrome
Abstract:Objective:To observe the clinical effect of Bushen herbal paste combined with alendronate sodium tablets for postmenopausal osteoporosis(PMOP) with kidney essence insufficiency syndrome. Methods:A total of 120 cases of PMOP patients with kidney essence insufficiency syndrome were randomly divided into the observation group and the control group, 60 cases in each group. Both groups were given basic treatment of anti- osteoporosis. The control group was given oral administration of alendronate sodium tablets, and the observation group was additionally given Bushen herbal paste based on the treatment of the control group. Both groups were treated for 12 months. Before and after treatment, lumbar and femoral intertrochanteric bone mineral density as well as the levels of osteocalcin(OC),bone alkaline phosphatase(BALP) and crosslinked carboxyterminal telopeptide of type I collagen(CTX) in the two groups were detected; the scores of kidney essence insufficiency syndrome and Visual Analogue Scale(VAS) in the two groups were evaluated. The curative effect of osteoporosis and Chinese medicine syndromes in the two groups was evaluated. Results: The total effective rate of osteoporosis was 96.67% in the observation group, higher than that of 83.33% in the control group(P<0.05). The total effective rate of Chinese medicine syndromes was 95.00% in the observation group, higher than that of 80.00% in the control group(P<0.05). After treatment, lumbar and femoral intertrochanteric bone mineral density in the two groups was increased when compared with that before treatment(P<0.05),and the above indexes in the observation group were higher than those in the control group (P<0.05). After treatment,OC levels in the two groups were increased, and the levels of BALP and CTX were significantly decreased(P<0.05);OC level in the observation group was higher than that in the control group, and the levels of BALP and CTX were lower(P<0.05). After treatment, the scores of kidney essence insufficiency syndrome and VAS in the two groups were decreased(P<0.01); the scores in the observation group were lower than those in the control group(P<0.01). Conclusion:The therapy of Bushen herbal paste combined with alendronate sodium tablets for PMOP with kidney essence insufficiency syndrome can relieve clinical symptoms, improve bone metabolism and bone turnover, and increase bone mineral density.
