Abstract: Objective: To observe the clinical effect of oral administration of Chinese medicine combined with point application based on syndrome differentiation for children with idiopathic dwarfism. Methods:A total of 70 cases of children with idiopathic dwarfism were divided into the control group and the Chinese medicine group according to the random number table method,35 cases in each group. Both groups were given exercise training and sleep instruction;the control group was additionally given five vitamins and lysine granules; the Chinese medicine group was additionally given syndrome differentiation typing and treatment, namely, oral administration of Chinese medicine and point application. Both groups were treated for six months, three months being a course. The changes in body height, body mass, and bone age before and after treatment were observed and compared between the two groups. The total clinical effect and safety were evaluated in the two groups. Results:The total effective rate was 85.71% in the Chinese medicine group and 62.86% in the control group, the difference being significant(P<0.05). After treatment, the body heights, body masses, and bone ages of children in the two groups were significantly increased when compared with those before treatment(P<0.05). In the Chinese medicine group, the body height and body mass of children were significantly higher than those in the control group(P<0.05). No adverse reactions occurred in the control group during treatment, and two cases of redness and swelling of skin occurred in the location of point application in the observation group. When compared the incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups, there was no significance in the difference(P>0.05). Conclusion:In treatment of idiopathic dwarfism, theoral administration of Chinese medicine combined with point application based on syndrome differentiation can significantly improve body height and body mass of children with relatively safe medication for treatment.
