Abstract: Objective: To investigate the clinical effect of intensive silver needle combined with neck band for early ossification of posterior longitudinal ligament(OPLL). Methods:A total of 80 cases of early OPLL patients were divided into the treatment group and the control group according to the random number table method,40 cases in each group. The control group was treated with routine acupuncture combined with neck band therapy, and the treatment group was treated with intensive silver needle combined with neck band. Both groups were treated for two weeks. The clinical effect and the function of cervical spine and pain degree before and after treatment in the two groups were compared;the incidences of adverse reactions were recorded. Results:The total effective rate was 92.50% in the treatment group, higher than that of 62.50% in the control group(P<0.01). After treatment, the scores of Japanese Orthopedic Association(JOA) of cervical vertebra in the two groups were increased when compared with those before treatment(P<0.01);the scores of Visual Analogue Scale(VAS) were decreased when compared with those before treatment(P<0.01);The JOA score of cervical vertebra in the treatment group was higher than that in the control group(P<0.01), and the VAS score was lower(P<0.01). No adverse reaction occurred in all patients during treatment. Conclusion:Intensive silver needle combined with neck band has definite curative effect in treating early OPLL and can effectively improve the function of cervical spine and relieve pain.
