Abstract:Objective:To observe the therapeutic effect of the pulse-diarrhea therapy of tibetan medicine for rheumatoid arthritis. Methods: A total of 90 patients with rheumatoid arthritis were randomly divided into the treatment group and the control group,45 cases in each group. The treatment group was adopted the pulse- diarrhea therapy of tibetan medicine, and the control group was treated with oral administration of meloxicam tablets. After four weeks of treatment, the main signs and symptoms, pain scores, levels of erythrocyte sedimentation rate(ESR), C- reactive protein(CRP), rheumatoid factor(RF) and adverse reactions as well as clinical effect in the two groups were compared before and after treatment. Results: The total effective rate was 95.6% in the treatment group, better than that of 82.2% in the control group, the difference being significant(P<0.05). After four weeks of treatment, the number of cases of joint tenderness, the number of cases of joint swelling, the time of morning stiffness, the average grip strength of both hands and the pain score in the two groups were all improved when compared with those before treatment(P<0.05), and the above indexes in the treatment group were better than those in the control group(P<0.05). After treatment, the levels of ESR, CRP and RF in the two groups were reduced(P<0.05),and the above levels in the treatment group were lower than those in the control group(P< 0.05). There was no significant difference in the comparison of incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups(P> 0.05). Conclusion:The pulse- diarrhea therapy of tibetan medicine has a satisfactory clinical effect in treating patients with rheumatoid arthritis and can significantly improve the clinical symptoms and signs as well as levels of ESR,CRP and RF,and the patients have a good tolerance.
