Abstract: Objective: To systematically evaluate the effect and safety of external treatment of Chinese medicine for patients with gastrointestinal dysfunction with stroke by using Meta analysis method. Methods:The randomized controlled trials (RCT) on the external treatment of Chinese medicine published at home and abroad from the establishment day of the database to January 31, 2019 for patients with gastrointestinal dysfunction at acute stage of stroke were under Meta analysis by via RevMan 5.3 software. Results:The external treatment of Chinese medicine can improve the clinical effect in patients at acute stage of stroke(OR= 4.48,95%CI [2.27,8.84]),reduce the incidence of constipation(OR=0.28,95%CI [0.22, 0.35]),shorten the time of first defecation(SMD=-1.00,95%CI [-1.29,-0.72]). Conclusion:The external treatment of Chinese medicine can reduce the incidence of constipation in patients with acute stroke, improve the clinical effect, and accelerate the time of the first defecation, but its long-term effect and safety still need to be verified by more high-quality and largesample RCT.
