Abstract: Objective: To observe the effect of rehabilitation of Chinese medicine nursing on preventing and treating constipation in psychotic patients. Methods:A total of 190 psychotic patients were divided into the control group(93 cases) and the Chinese medicine group(97 cases). The control group received routine nursing, and the Chinese medicine group received rehabilitation nursing of Chinese medicine based on the control group. The nursing compliance, the scores of constipation symptoms, the interval between defecation and incidence of constipation before and after intervention were compared between the two groups. Results: There was no significant difference in nursing compliance between the two groups(P>0.05). Before intervention, there was no statistically significant difference between the two groups in the comparison of the scores of constipation symptoms, the interval between defecation and the incidence of constipation(P> 0.05). After intervention, the scores of constipation symptoms including defecation frequency, fecal nature, abdominal distension and defecation time in the Chinese medicine group were significantly lower than those in the control group(P< 0.01);the interval between defecation in the Chinese medicine group was less than that in the control group(P<0.01). The incidence of constipation in the Chinese medicine group was 4.12%,significantly lower than that of 13.98% in the control group, the difference being significant(P<0.05). Conclusion:The application of rehabilitation nursing of Chinese medicine to psychotic patients does not reduce the nursing compliance, which can reduce the scores of constipation symptoms, shorten the interval between defecation, and reduce the incidence of constipation.
