Abstract:Objective: To observe the clinical effect of warming- needle moxibustion combined with Qiangjin Zhuanggu tang for knee osteoarthritis. Methods: A total of 108 cases of patients with knee osteoarthritis were divided into the observation group and the control group according to the random number table method,54 cases in each group. The control group was treated with Qiangjin Zhuanggu tang, and the observation group was additionally treated with warming- needle moxibustion based on the treatment of the control group. Both groups were treated for one month. The clinical effect as well as the scores of Pain Rating Index(PRI) and Western Ontario and McMaster University Osteoarthritis Index(WOMAC), the joint flexion degree and joint swelling degree before and after treatment in the two groups were compared. Results: The total effective rate was 96.30% in the observation group, significantly higher than that of 83.33% in the control group(P<0.05). After treatment, the scores of sensation and emotion as well as the total scores in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment(P<0.01),and the above scores in the observation group were lower than those in the control group(P<0.01). After treatment, the WOMAC scores in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment(P<0.01), and joint flexion degree was increased(P<0.01); compared the above indexes in the two groups, differences being significant(P<0.01). After treatment, the degree of joint swelling in the two groups was alleviated when compared with that before treatment(P<0.01), and the degree in the observation group was lower than that in the control group(P<0.01). Conclusion:The therapy of warming-needle moxibustion combined with Qiangjin Zhuanggu tang has definite curative effect in treating knee osteoarthritis, which can reduce the scores of PRI and WOMAC, improve joint swelling and promote the recovery of joint function.
