Clinical Study on Low Temperature Thermoplastic Sheets Combined with Chinese Medicine Comprehensive Rehabilitation for Post-Traumatic Joint Contracture
Abstract: Objective: To observe the clinical effect of low temperature thermoplastic sheets combined with Chinese medicine comprehensive rehabilitation on post-traumatic joint contracture. Methods:Fifty patients with post-traumatic joint contracture were randomly divided into the control group and the observation group,25 patients in each group. Both groups received treatment of comprehensive rehabilitation, and the observation group was additionally treated with low temperature thermoplastic sheets molding. Both groups were treated for eight weeks. The clinical effect, quality of joint restoration, incidence of adverse reactions, joint range of motion, swelling degree, score of daily living activity by Barthel Index(BI) and score of Visual Analogue Scale(VAS) before and after treatment in the two groups were observed and compared. Results: The total effective rate was 100% in the observation group and 84.00% in the control group, the difference being significant (P<0.05). After treatment, the active and passive range of motion of joints in both groups were significantly increased when compared with those before treatment(P<0.05), and the improvement of the degree was better in the observation group than the control group(P<0.05). After treatment, the BI scores in both groups were increased when compared with those before treatment(P<0.05);the scores of degree of joint swelling and VAS in both groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment(P<0.05);the improvement of the above indexes in the observation group was more significant than that in the control group(P<0.05). The good-level restoration rate was 80.00% in the observation group and 44.00% in the control group, the difference being significant(P<0.05). The incidence of adverse reactions was 4.00% in the observation group and 8.00% in the control group, there being no significant difference(P>0.05). Conclusion: The therapy of low temperature thermoplastic sheets combined with Chinese medicine comprehensive rehabilitation has significant clinical effect in treating post- traumatic joint contracture, whose effect is better than simple Chinese medicine comprehensive rehabilitation.
