Abstract：Objective：To observe the effect of retention enema with Chinese medicine combined with point massage for patients with ulcerative colitis at active stage. Methods：A total of 120 cases of patients with ulcerative colitis at active stage were divided into two groups according to the random number table method，60 cases in each group. The control group was given mesalazine enteric- coated tablets and routine nursing ， and the observation group was additionally treated with retention enema with Chinese medicine and point massage based on the treatment of the control group. The clinical effect， and the scores of Chinese medicine syndromes， Disease Activity Index(DAI) and quality of life in the two groups were compared. Before and after treatment，the anxiety and depression in the two groups were evaluated. The satisfaction and adverse reactions were recorded. Results：The total effective rate was 95.00% in the observation group，significantly higher than that of 81.67% in the control group(P＜0.05). After treatment，the scores of Chinese medicine syndromes and DAI in the two groups were significantly decreased when compared with those before treatment， the scores of quality of life were significantly increased， and the scores of anxiety and depression were significantly lower than those before treatment(P＜0.05)；in the observation group，the decrease of scores of Chinese medicine syndromes，DAI，and the scores of anxiety and depression were lower，the score of quality of life was higher(P＜0.05). The score of satisfaction in the observation group was significantly higher that in the control group(t=24.651， P=0.000). During treatment， there was no obvious adverse reaction in the two groups. Conclusion：The therapy of retention enema with Chinese medicine combined with point massage has significant curative effect in treating patients with ulcerative colitis at active stage， and is conducive to improving their quality of life and satisfaction.
