Abstract：Objective：To observe the clinical effect of external application of modified Huoluo Xiaoling pills combined with comprehensive nursing in adjuvant therapy of cancer pain of the liver cancer. Methods：A total of 100 cases of patients with moderate and severe cancer pain of the liver cancer were randomly divided into the control group and the observation group， 50 cases in each group. Both groups were given comprehensive nursing management measures. Based on the scheme of pain ladder treatment，the control group was additionally given paracetamol and tramadol hydrochloride tablets or morphine sulphate sustained- release tablets； the evaluation of pain degree was conducted every day， and medication dose was regulated； the observation group was additionally given external application of modified Huoluo Xiaoling pills based on the treatment of the control group. Both groups were treated for ten days. Before treatment as well as on the 3rd，5th，7th，and 10th days after treatment，the scores of Visual Analogue Scale(VAS) were observed and compared between the two groups. Before and after treatment，faces pain rating，and the effect of pain on emotions，sleep，activity ability，and appetite were observed and compared between the two groups. Before and after treatment，the changes in scores of quality of life were observed and compared between the two groups. Results：After treatment，pain relief in the observation group was better than that in the control group，the difference being significant(P＜0.05). On the 3rd，5th，7th，and 10th days after treatment， the VAS scores in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment(P＜0.05)；the scores in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group(P＜0.05). After treatment，faces pain rating in the two groups was significantly improved when compared with that before treatment(P＜0.05)； the improvement in the observation group was more significant than that in the control group(P＜0.05). After treatment，scores of the effect of pain on emotions，sleep，activity ability，and appetite in the two groups were significantly decreased when compared with those before treatment(P＜0.05)； each score in the observation group was lower than that in the control group(P＜0.05). After treatment， scores of quality of life in the two groups were significantly decreased when compared with those before treatment(P＜0.05)； the score in the observation group was significantly lower than that in the control group(P＜0.05). Conclusion：The therapy of comprehensive nursing combined with modified Huoluo Xiaoling pills in adjuvant therapy of cancer pain of the liver cancer， can effectively alleviate pain and harmful effect caused by pain， thus improving quality of life of patients.
