Abstract: Objective: To observe the clinical effect of Xuebijing injection for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) complicated with severe infection and its effect on inflammatory factors in serum. Methods:A total of 98 cases of patients with COPD complicated with severe infection were randomly divided into the control group and the observation group,49 cases in each group. The control group was given noninvasive mechanical ventilation, and the observation group was additionally given Xuebijing injection. The changes in arterial partial pressure of carbon dioxide(PaCO2), arterial partial pressure of oxygen(PaO2),the scores of Acute Physiology and Chronic Health Evaluation Scale- Ⅱ(APACHE-Ⅱ),and the levels of inflammatory factors including C- reactive protein(CRP),interleukin- 6(IL- 6) and plasma calcitonin(PCT) in the two groups were observed and compared before and after treatment. The clinical effect in the two groups was counted. Results: The total effective rate was 81.6% in the observation group and 53.1% in the control group, the difference being significant (P<0.05). After treatment,PaCO2 and the scores of APACHE-Ⅱ in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment(P<0.05), and PaO2 were increased when compared with those before treatment(P<0.05); the improvement of each index above in the observation group was more significant than that in the control group(P<0.05). After treatment, the levels of CRP,IL-6 and PCT in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05),and each index above in the observation group was lower than that in the control group(P<0.05). Conclusion:The application of Xuebijing injection combined with noninvasive mechanical ventilation in treating COPD complicated with severe infection, can significantly increase the concentration of blood oxygen and reduce the release of inflammatory mediators in serum, thus improving acute injury, whose curative effect is better than that of simple traditional noninvasive mechanical ventilation.
