Abstract：Objective：To observe the clinical effect of Aifu Nuangong tang combined with acupoint application for primary dysmenorrhea(PD) of cold congelation and blood stasis type. Methods： Divided 136 cases of patients with PD of cold congelation and blood stasis type into the control group and the observation group according to random number table， 68 cases in each group. The control group received ibuprofen sustained release capsules， while the observation group additionally received the oral administration of Aifu Nuangong tang combined with acupoint application. The treatment of both groups lasted for 3 menstrual cycles. Observed Chinese medicine syndrome scores before and after treatment，evaluated the clinical effect in the two groups， compared the degree of dysmenorrhea in-between the two groups before treatment with that in the 1st， 2nd and 3rd menstrual cycles，and recorded the occurrence of adverse reactions in both groups. Results：After treatment，the scores of pain in lower abdomen，dark menstrual blood，menstruation with stasis and aversion to cold in four limbs in both groups were lower than those before treatment(P＜0.05)， and the four Chinese medicine syndrome scores above in the observation group were decreased more obviously than those in the control group(P＜0.05). The total effective rate was 91.18% in the observation group，being higher than 82.35% in the control group， difference being significant(P＜0.05). The scores of dysmenorrhea in the 1st，2nd and 3rd menstrual cycles in both groups were gradually decreased(P＜0.05)，and the scores of dysmenorrhea in the 3rd menstrual cycle in the observation group were lower than those in the control group (P＜0.05). There was no significant difference being found when comparing the scores of dysmenorrhea in both groups in the 1st menstrual cycles with those in 2nd menstrual cycles(P＞0.05). During treatment，no obvious adverse reactions occurred in both groups. Conclusion：Aifu Nuangong tang combined with acupoint application can significantly improve the symptoms of dysmenorrhea in patients with PD of cold congelation and blood stasis type， whose clinical application is safe and effective.
