Abstract：Objective：To observe the clinical effect of Huofeng Qingchang prescription for irritable bowel syndrome with diarrhea(IBS-D) of dampness-heat in the intestine type. Methods：A total of 61 cases of patients with IBS-D of dampness- heat in the intestine type were divided into the treatment group and the control group according to the random number table method， with 31 and 30 cases in each group respectively. The treatment group was treated with Huofeng Qingchang prescription，and the control group was treated with trimebutin maleate dispersible tablets. Both groups were treated for two weeks. The change of clinical symptom scores in the two groups before and after treatment was observed，and the clinical effect in the two groups was compared. Results：The total effective rate was 90.0% in the treatment group，higher than that of 67.9% in the control group， the difference being significant(P＜0.05). After treatment， the scores of abdominal pain， abdominal distension，defecation frequency and the character of stool in the two groups were all decreased when compared with those before treatment； the decrease of the scores of the above four symptoms in the treatment group was more significant than that in the control group，differences being significant(P＜0.05). Conclusion：The curative effect of Huofeng Qingchang prescription is better than that trimebutin maleate dispersible tablets in treating IBS- D of dampness- heat in theintestine type.
