Abstract：Objective：To observe the clinical effect of navel needling combined with Jianpi Yiwei tang for chronic atrophic gastritis(CAG) of spleen- stomach deficiency type. Methods： A total of 72 cases of CAG patients of spleen- stomach deficiency type were selected and divided into the treatment group and the control group according to the random number table method，36 cases in each group. The control group was treated with western medicine，and the treatment group was given navel needling combined with Jianpi Yiwei tang. One month being one course of treatment， both groups were continuously treated for three courses. After treatment，the clinical effect in the two groups was compared，and the changes of clinical symptom scores and levels of interleukin- 8(IL- 8)，C- reactive protein(CRP) and tumor necrosis factor- α(TNF- α) before and after treatment were observed. Results： After treatment， the scores of epigastric distension and pain， stomachache， belching and acid regurgitation in the two groups were all decreased when compared with those before treatment(P＜0.05)；the above three clinical symptom scores in the treatment group was lower than that in the control group (P＜0.05). The total effective rate was 94.44% in the treatment group，higher than that of 80.56% in the control group(P＜ 0.05). After treatment，the levels of IL-8，CRP and TNF-α in the two groups were all decreased when compared with those before treatment(P＜0.05)；the above levels in the treatment group were all lower than those in the control group(P＜0.05). Conclusion： The therapy of navel needling therapy combined with Jianpi Yiwei tang has definite curative effect in treating CAG of spleen- stomach deficiency type. Compared with that of western medicine， it can better improve the clinical symptoms of patients and reduce the levels of IL-8，CRP and TNF-α.
