Abstract：Objective：To observe the clinical effect of the therapy of Xinwen Kaiqiao prescription combined with western medicine for acute ischemic stroke of turbid phlegm and stasis obstruction type. Methods：A total of 100 patients with acute ischemic stroke were divided into two groups，20 cases in each group. The control group was treated with western medicine and the observation group was additionally treated with Xinwen Kaiqiao prescription based on the treatment of the control group. The blood coagulation indexes，Chinese medicine syndrome score，score of National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS)， Barthel Index and comprehensive therapeutic effect were compared between the two groups. Results： After treatment， the platelet count， coagulation time， prothrombin time and the level of plasma fibrinogen in the observation group were better than those in the control group， the difference being significant(P＜0.05). After treatment， Chinese medicine syndrome score，NIHSS score and Barthel index were significantly improved in the two groups，and the Chinese medicine syndrome score and NIHSS score in the observation group were lower than those in the control group，while the Barthel index was higher，the difference being significant(P＜0.05). The effective rate was 98.00% in the observation group and 86.00% in the control group， the difference being significant(P＜0.05). Conclusion： The therapy of Xinwen Kaiqiao prescription combined with western medicine has better therapeutic effect than pure western medicine，which can improve blood coagulation indexes，nerve function and living ability.
