Abstract:Objective:To observe the wake-promoting effect of tongue-dotting therapy with Chinese herbal medicine on early disturbance of consciousness after stroke. Methods: A total of 89 cases of patients with early disturbance of consciousness after stroke were layered according to Glasgow Coma Scale(GCS)scores at four to eight and nine to thirteen;a total of 44 cases of patients at four to eight GCS scores were randomly divided into the experiment group and the control group,22 cases in each group;a total of 45 cases of patients at nine to thirteen GCS scores were randomly divided into the experiment group and the control group,22 and 23 cases in each group respectively. The control group was intervened with routine medicine and nursing, and the experiment group was additionally treated with tongue-dotting therapy with Chinese herbal medicine based on the treatment of the control group. All of the groups were treated for two weeks. Before treatment and after treatment for one week and two weeks, the GCS scores of patients at different levels were recorded and compared. Results:After one week of treatment for patients with four to eight GCS scores, the GCS scores in the two groups were increased when compared with those before treatment(P<0.01); there was no significant difference being found in the comparison of GCS scores between the two groups(P>0.05). After two weeks of treatment for patients with four to eight GCS scores, the GCS score in the experiment group was increased when compared with that after treatment for one week(P<0.05),and was higher than that in the control group at the same period(P>0.01);compared with GCS scores in the control group after treatment for one week and two weeks, there was no significant difference being found(P>0.05). After one week of treatment for patients with nine to thirteen GCS scores, the GCS scores in the two groups were increased when compared with those before treatment(P<0.01);there was no significant difference being found in the comparison of GCS scores between the two groups(P>0.05). After two weeks of treatment for patients with nine to thirteen GCS scores, the GCS score in the experiment group was increased when compared with that after treatment for one week(P<0.05); compared with GCS scores in the control group after treatment for one week and two weeks, there was no significant difference being found(P>0.05);there was no significant difference being found in the comparison of GCS scores between the two groups(P>0.05). Conclusion: The application of tongue- dotting therapy with Chinese herbal medicine has continuous wake- promoting effect in patients with early disturbance of consciousness after stroke and has better wakepromoting effect on patients with four to eight GCS scores than that of simple routine medicine and nursing.
