Abstract： Objective： To observe the clinical effect of compound Congrong Dahuang Tongbian patch combined with routine medical measures for hemodialysis complicated with constipation. Methods：A total of 120 cases of patients with hemodialysis complicated with yang-deficiency constipation were randomly divided into the control group and the observation group，60 cases in each group. Both groups were treated for mosapride citrate tablets，live combined Bacillus subtilis and Enterococcus faecium enteric- coated capsules， and Congrong Tongbian oral liquid as well as comprehensive nursing measures. The observation group was additionally given point application with compound Congrong Dahuang Tongbian patch. Both groups were treated for four weeks. Before and after treatment，the scores of main symptoms of constipation，Patient Assessment of Constipation-Quality of Life(PAC-QOL) and Chinese medicine syndromes were evaluated. One week before treatment and one week after treatment， the frequency of complete spontaneous bowel movements per week was compared. The curative effect of Chinese medicine syndromes in the two groups was compared. Results：After treatment， the curative effect of Chinese medicine syndromes in the observation group was better than that in the control group(P＜0.05). The scores of main symptoms of constipation including fecal character，difficult defecation，defecation time，defecation frequency，abdominal distension，straining sensation，incomplete defecation and distending sensation as well as the scores of PAC- QOL and Chinese medicine syndromes in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment(P＜0.01)；one week after treatment，the frequencies of complete spontaneous owel movements were increased when compared with those before treatment(P＜0.01)； the scores of main symptoms of constipation in the observation group were lower than those in the control group(P＜0.01)，and the frequency was more than that in the control group(P＜ 0.01). Conclusion：Based on routine medical measures，the additional therapy of point application with compound Congrong Dahuang Tongbian patch can further improve the symptoms of constipation of hemodialysis patients，increase the frequency of constipation，quality of life and curative effect.
