Objective： To observe the clinical effect of Xianling Gubao capsules combined with glucosamine sulfate capsules for knee osteoarthritis.Methods：Divided 68 cases of patients with knee osteoarthritis into the control group and the treatment group randomly，with 34 cases in each group；both groups were treated with glucosamine sulfate capsules and the treatment group was additionally given Xianling Gubao capsules and the course of treatment in the two groups were 8 weeks.Observed the clinical effect and adverse reactions in the two groups and evaluated the scores of visual analogue scale(VAS)of knee joint pain and Lysholm knee function in the two groups before and after treatment.Results：The total effective rate was 94.12% in the treatment group and 73.53% in the control group；compared the two groups，difference being significant(P ＜0.05).After treatment，the VAS scores of knee joint pain in the two groups were obviously decreased when compared with those before treatment(P＜0.05)and the VAS scores in the treatment group were lower than those in the control group(P ＜0.05).After treatment，the scores of Lysholm knee function in the two groups were obviously increased when compared with those before treatment(P＜0.05)and the scores in the treatment group were evidently higher than those in the control group(P＜0.05).The adverse reaction rate was 2.94% in the treatment group and 11.76% in the control group and compared the two groups， difference being significant.Conclusion： The application of Xianling Gubao capsules combined with glucosamine sulfate capsules for knee osteoarthritis has exact effect and the curative effect is better than that of western medicine alone.
