Abstract: Objective: To observe the effect of Gualou Guizhi tang on Chinese medicine syndrome scores and motor function of lower limbs in patients with lower limb spasm after stroke. Methods:A total of 203 cases of patients with lower limb spasm after stroke were randomly divided into the control group and the study group,101 and 102 cases in each group respectively. The control group was given routine treatment and recovery training, and the study group was additionally treated with Gualou Guizhi tang based on the treatment of the control group. Both groups were treated for four weeks. Before and after treatment, the scores of Chinese medicine syndromes, clinical spasticity index(CSI), Fugl- Meger Assessment Scale(FMA) of lower extremity motor function and Barthel index(BI) in the two groups were observed and compared; the serum indexes including hypersensitive C- reactive protein(hs- CRP) and D- dimer(D- D) in the two groups were detected. Results:After treatment,Chinese medicine syndrome scores and CSI scores in the two groups were significantly decreased when compared with those before treatment(P<0.05);the scores in the study group were lower than those in the control group(P<0.05). After treatment, the scores of FMA and BI in the two groups were significantly increased when compared with those before treatment(P<0.05);the scores in the study group were higher than those in the control group(P<0.05). After treatment, the levels of hs- CRP and D- D in serum in the two groups were significantly decreased when compared with those before treatment(P<0.05);the above two indexes in the study group were lower than those in the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion:Gualou Guizhi tang in adjuvant treatment of lower limb spasm after stroke can effectively relieve the clinical symptoms, regulate the state of coagulation and fibrolysis, reduce the degree of lower limb spasm, and thus improving the motor function of lower limbs and activity of daily living.
